PURSUING THE MONARCHS - Director and writer of Feature Length award-winning documentary

Synopsis // Pursuing the Monarchs examines the social and biological factors causing a rapidly waning monarch butterfly population across North America. This succinct yet poignant documentary traverses viewers across the American heartland from the vast plains of Iowa to the jungles of Michoacán. It is an intrepid journey across the front lines of one of Earth’s most chaste and treasured species’ battle for survival against rampant deforestation and the devastating practices of industrialized agriculture.

WOMEN OF THE OCEAN - Writer, Cinematographer & Editor

Initiative // Women of the Ocean is a project dreamt up by diver and journalist, Martina Alvarez, which seeks to empower coastal women by teaching them about the ocean. Every Saturday for five weeks, girls from Carenero island, Panama, gathered to learn more about themselves and the ocean through a series of workshops and activities. From snorkeling and surfing to conservation lectures and yoga workshops, this initiative encouraged young girls to push the boundaries of their backyard and learn to love and protect the natural resources it contains.

SEA TURTLE DEFENDERS - Cinematographer & Editor

Initiative // This short teaser is a taste of the longer documentary that is currently in production. The expedition relays the journey of three explorers headed to Rio Caña, a remote Panamanian indigenous community, to learn about their success in conserving their nesting sea turtle population. Carried out by Guillermo Torres, Martina Alvarez and myself, this project was supported by the Sea Turtle Conservancy and the Bocas Dive Center and was produced to to raise environmental awareness and protect sea turtles.

ANGKOR CENTRE FOR CONSERVATION OF BIODIVERSITY - Cinematographer and editor

Initiative // I produced this promotional video as part of my volunteer work for the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity, an endangered rehabilitation facility located an hour away from Siem Reap, in Cambodia. This center rescues endangered fauna from the illegal wildlife trade and from the intensive poaching occurring in the region.
